Guest Appearances: I AM Somebody Night Operation PUSH comes to shove when the Reverend Jesse Jackson brings his uplifting, inspirational message to campus. - Sponsored by Iams. Readings: Award-winning writer Robert Stone will read from his classic novel Dog Soldiers, to be followed by a screening of the film based on the book, Who'll Stop the Rain? Noted New York Times columnist Anna Quindlen will read from her book Good Dog. Stay. We hope you'll stay for the presentation afterwards when that good dog of hers, Beau, receives an honorary VCLA degree. Stephen Colbert will read William Faulkner's classic The Bear and lead a discussion on whether it is a short novel or a long story. Afterward he will sell copies of his book I'm An American, and So Can You. Mr. Colbert's dog, Gipper, will receive an honorary VCLA degree. - All Co-sponsored by the departments of Engleash and Litterature.
Lectures: Former Attorney General John Ashcroft will speak on the subject "Strange but true: I Lost An Election to a Dead Man" and sing "Let the Eagle Soar." - Co-sponsored by the department of Pawlitical Science and Mewsicology. California Senator Barbara Boxer will deliver a PowerPoint presentation on the subject: "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: Her Bark Is Worse Than Her Bite." - Sponsored by the Department of Pawlitical Science.
